About the job:

The Financial Analyst will play a key role in financial planning, reporting, compliance, and operational analysis across the organization. This position partners with leadership and departments to support budgeting, forecasting, audits, financial modeling, and process improvements while ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.

We’re looking for someone who:
  • Holds a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Public Administration, or a related field
  • Has 4+ years of progressively responsible accounting or finance experience, preferably within a non-profit, educational, or governmental organization
  • Demonstrates a strong technical accounting foundation, including experience with more complex areas such as leases and debt
  • Brings a proactive, self-starter mindset and continuously looks for opportunities to improve processes and reporting efficiency
  • Possesses strong financial analysis skills with the ability to clearly interpret and explain variances, trends, and fluctuations
  • Has excellent writing skills, particularly when communicating financial insights and reporting results
  • Demonstrates strong reporting and presentation skills using tools such as AI platforms, Tableau, Canva, or similar technology (preferred)
  • Is highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage overlapping deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Has advanced experience with Microsoft Office, complex spreadsheets, databases, query tools, pivot tables, and reporting systems
  • Is comfortable using financial systems such as PeopleSoft, Data Warehouse, Crystal Reports, Revenue Vision, or similar platforms (preferred)
  • Has experience supporting audits, budgeting processes, and internal financial controls
  • Can work independently while collaborating effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders
  • Has experience participating in financial system implementations, upgrades, or process improvement initiatives (preferred)
  • Demonstrates strong problem-solving and analytical skills when handling complex financial and accounting matters
  •  Has experience working within a college, university, governmental, or non-profit environment (preferred)
What you’ll do:
  • Monitor and analyze organization-wide revenue, expenses, capital projects, and financial performance
  • Prepare and review quarterly financial statements and supporting schedules
  • Support the annual external audit process, including auditor requests and documentation preparation
  • Record and reconcile bond, debt, and lease accounting transactions
  • Prepare financial analyses, statistical reports, dashboards, and board presentation materials
  • Assist with annual budgeting, long-range planning, forecasting, and trend analysis
  • Partner with department leaders to improve budget accountability and financial transparency
  • Prepare and submit required federal, university, and third-party financial filings and surveys, including Form 990 reporting
  • Develop financial models for new programs, capital projects, and organizational initiatives
  • Support the development and maintenance of internal financial controls and accounting procedures
  • Assist with payroll analysis, reconciliations, cost allocation, and reserve tracking
  • Monitor and analyze cash flow activity and financial requirements
  • Provide training and support for financial systems, reporting tools, and data warehouse platforms
  • Recommend and implement improvements to financial systems, reporting processes, and operational efficiency
  •  Support financial tracking and forecasting for capital projects and other strategic initiatives
