About the job:

The Sr. Microbiologist performs microbiological testing and supports laboratory operations to ensure products meet quality, regulatory, and safety standards in a cGMP environment.

We’re looking for someone who:
  • Holds a bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biology, or a related scientific field
  • Has 5–8 years of pharmaceutical or biotechnology laboratory experience in a cGMP environment
  • Is experienced with microbiological testing following USP, ISO, and AAMI standards
  • Has a strong understanding of cGMP, GLP, GDP, FDA regulations, and quality systems
  • Is proficient in sterility, bioburden, endotoxin, microbial enumeration, antimicrobial effectiveness, and growth promotion testing
  • Demonstrates excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Communicates effectively through technical documentation and cross-functional collaboration
  • Is proficient in Microsoft Office and laboratory software
  • Can manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail
  • Has experience with aseptic processing and sterile manufacturing environments
  • (Preferred) Has experience with microbiological method development, validation, verification, and method transfer
  • (Preferred) Has experience training laboratory personnel and supporting audits, inspections, or contract laboratories
What you’ll do:
  • Perform routine microbiological testing on raw materials, in-process samples, finished products, and stability samples
  • Conduct sterility, bioburden, endotoxin, microbial enumeration, antimicrobial effectiveness, and growth promotion testing
  • Prepare microbiological media, reagents, and maintain laboratory inventory and supplies
  • Operate, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment
  • Maintain accurate laboratory documentation in compliance with cGMP and Good Documentation Practices
  • Review microbiological data and report out-of-specification, out-of-trend, or atypical results
  • Follow approved SOPs, laboratory safety practices, and aseptic techniques
  • Support investigations, deviations, CAPAs, change controls, validation studies, and stability programs
  • Collaborate with Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, and R&D teams to support production and quality initiatives
  • Maintain compliance with FDA, ISO, USP, and other applicable regulatory standards
  • Assist with microbiological method development, validation, verification, and transfer activities
  • Prepare and revise SOPs, validation protocols, test methods, and technical reports 
  • Support laboratory equipment qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ) and perform data trending and process improvement activities 
  • Train and mentor laboratory personnel and coordinate testing with qualified contract laboratories 
  • Support internal audits, regulatory inspections, and continuous improvement projects
