About the job:

The Senior Buyer is responsible for procuring materials, components, and services for both existing production programs and new product introductions. This role works closely with cross-functional teams and suppliers to ensure material availability, competitive pricing, on-time delivery, and smooth product launches.

We’re looking for someone who:
  • Holds a bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Has 5+ years of purchasing, sourcing, or supply chain experience in an EMS or contract manufacturing environment
  • Has at least 2 years of experience supporting NPI sourcing, RFQs, product costing, or new product introductions
  • Possesses a strong understanding of electronic components, PCBAs, cable assemblies, and electromechanical assemblies
  • Can review bills of materials, engineering drawings, and customer specifications
  • Has experience with ERP/MRP systems and inventory planning
  • Demonstrates advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis
  • Excels at supplier management, negotiation, and strategic sourcing
  • Has strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Communicates effectively across multiple departments and external suppliers
  • Can manage multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously
  • Has knowledge of APICS, CPIM, CSCP, Lean Manufacturing, or Continuous Improvement methodologies (preferred)
  • Is willing to travel occasionally to supplier locations as needed (preferred)
What you’ll do:
  • Plan, schedule, and monitor material requirements to support uninterrupted production
  • Manage procurement activities for existing customer programs, including purchase orders and supplier performance
  • Resolve material shortages, supplier quality concerns, and purchasing-related issues
  • Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships while negotiating pricing, lead times, MOQs, and commercial terms
  • Analyze supplier performance and implement corrective actions when necessary
  • Participate in production meetings and provide recovery plans for material shortages and supply chain risks
  • Support inventory management initiatives and maintain optimal inventory levels
  • Review customer RFQs, BOMs, drawings, and specifications for new product introduction activities
  • Obtain and evaluate supplier quotations for components, assemblies, and custom materials
  • Develop material cost estimates for customer quotations and engineering changes
  • Assess component availability, lifecycle status, lead times, and supply chain risks
  • Identify alternative sourcing strategies to improve cost competitiveness and reduce risk
  • Support prototype, pilot, and production launch activities
  • Coordinate procurement efforts to ensure material readiness for NPI builds
  • Participate in contract reviews and support transition of new products into production
  • Maintain purchasing records and documentation in accordance with company procedures
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on cost reduction and supply chain optimization
