About the job:
The Packaging Engineer plans, executes, and analyzes packaging performance tests to ensure product protection, compliance, and readiness across the supply chain.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Holds a bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field
- Has 2+ years of experience in packaging testing, quality engineering, or laboratory operations (internship experience accepted)
- Has hands-on experience with packaging test standards such as ISTA, ASTM, ISO, or TAPPI
- Has operated packaging test equipment such as drop testers, vibration tables, compression testers, and climate chambers
- Understands packaging materials including corrugated, flexible films, rigid plastics, foams, and pallets
- Is highly detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Is proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and data entry systems
- Communicates effectively and collaborates well across engineering, quality, and operations teams
- Is organized, self-motivated, and safety-conscious
- (Preferred) Holds ISTA certification
What you’ll do:
- Conduct standardized packaging tests including drop, vibration, compression, burst/ECT, and climate conditioning
- Execute packaging performance testing per ISTA, ASTM, ISO, and customer-specific requirements
- Operate and maintain lab equipment and ensure proper calibration and documentation
- Develop test protocols aligned with internal specifications and customer needs
- Analyze test data and generate detailed test reports
- Communicate test results and recommendations to engineering, quality, and operations teams
- Support packaging validation for new products, packaging changes, and supplier qualification
- Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement efforts for packaging failures
- Collaborate with packaging engineering, R&D, manufacturing, and supply chain teams on design optimization
- Support material selection, design reviews, and prototype evaluations
- Maintain compliance with EHS, QA, and audit requirements
